Steps

Download template
Obtain the bulk upload template for the correct CI type (e.g., ESX) from ServiceNow or your internal documentation. (13) -
Fill in device information
For each device, enter:- Hostname (e.g.,
PCP-ESX02) - FQDN (e.g.,
PCP-ESX02.se.abb.com) - Location ID & details (country, site, building, room/rack, rack position)
- Operational status and sub-status (e.g.,
operational) - Install date (
YYYY-MM-DD) - Server owner and server manager IDs (use ServiceNow internal IDs)
- Server operations team and supplier (usually ABB unless managed by a third party)
- Model ID (physical or virtual server type)
- Serial number (service tag or vSphere serial)
- IP address and subnet (e.g.,
10.56.17.102/24) - OS (e.g., VMware ESXi), version, and architecture
- CPU details (name, number, cores)
- RAM (in GB, not MB)
- Storage (allocated, in GB)
- Service level classification (if required)
- Usage (production, development, etc.)
- Cost center, owning company, division, and cost center owner ID (14)

Naming standards
Follow the country–function–number format (e.g.,SE-PA-01) per local or global naming standards. Reference DNS naming documentation if needed. (15) -
Save and validate
Double-check all fields for accuracy—especially company codes and owner IDs. Save the file (typically an Excel spreadsheet). (16) -
Submit via ServiceNow
Open the ServiceNow bulk upload catalog item, attach the completed template, and provide a brief description. (17) -
Processing
Submit the request. The system will process the bulk upload and create the CIs. Monitor for errors or rejections, especially mismatches in company codes or owner IDs. (18)
